足协杯:恒大7-5击败绿城
In the quarter-finals of the Chinese FA Cup in Guangzhou, run-away Chinese Super League leading Evergrande lined up against Hangzhou Greentown. Greentown trail Evergrande by 30 points on the league table so it looked like it would be an easy task for the hosts, but in one game showdowns, anything can happen.
The visitors would quiet the Evergrande faithful in the 35th. Off a cornerkick, the header from Sun Zheng’ao is stopped, but Masashi Oguro buried the rebound to mak it 1-nil Greentown.
However, Marcello Lippi’s side took only 3 minute to level the score. Rong Hao’s excetional cross found Yang Chaosheng...and he finished nicely to make it 1-1 at the half.
And after the break Greentown would shock the CSL leaders again in the 63rd minute. Oguro caught the off Evergrande defense off guard as the 33-year-old’s second of the match made it 2-1。
Evergrande pushed hard for an equalizer and were rewarded 10 minutes later. Xiao Kaiti Yalikun’s shot was deflected by Sun Zheng’ao past his own keeper. Sun’s goal, would lead to this match going to penalties.
And on Greentown’s first attempt controversy would strike as Wang Song’s effort went off the cross bar and the referee ruled. It did not go in.
However, replay showed that it should have been called a good goal. And that would be the break Evergrande needed as they scored on all five of their attempts to reach the round of four, 7-5 on penalties.
In the other quarter-finals on Wednesday, Guizhou dumped Liaoning 4-nil. Dalian edged Jiangsu 2-1. And Beijing throttled Qingdao 5-2. So in the semi-final round, set to begin in late September, Guangzhou will face Beijing while Guizhou take on Dalian.
