伦敦莫斯科欢乐嘉年华
Moscow’s biggest park marked its 85th anniversary this past weekend with a large scale carnival, held at Gorky Park. This is the first carnival held at the park since 1936.
After the fall of the Soviet Union in the 90s, the area was transformed into an amusement park that didn’t comply with safety laws. In 2010 the area was completely rebuilt over the course of several months, and is now one of the most popular places in the city of Moscow. The carnival was a celebration for those who were involved in rethinking and modernizing the area.
Simultaneously, Europe’s biggest street festival, the Notting Hill Carnival, opened in London. After fears the start of Europe's biggest street festival would be hampered by rain, the skies cleared as performers paraded through the streets in bright costumes.
August 26th was the main day of the two-day Notting Hill Carnival, an annual celebration of Caribbean culture that draws about one million people for a colourful procession of musicians and performers.
