We move now to a real-life drama in the film "The 33". It retells the story of a cave-in that trapped 33 miners deep below Chile’s Atacama desert for 69 days. The film stars Spanish actor Antonio Banderas and French actress Juliette Binoche.

The film deals with previously unknown details of the miners’ time below ground, including how they stretched a meager 48-hour store of emergency food for 17 days.

Banderas plays Mario Sepulveda, nicknamed "Super Mario," who became the public face of the miners.

Binoche plays Maria Segovia, the sister of a trapped miner who became known for her outgoing personality.

Mexican Director Patricia Riggen spent two years interviewing miners and their families, as well as rescuers, government officials and journalists who covered the story.

"The biggest challenge is that we are making a movie with real characters who exist. We have to respect them while making a good movie. those two things, marrying those two things, is very difficult," said Patricia Riggens, director of "The 33".

The miners have approved everything portrayed on screen.

Several of the men are even working for the production team.

"Chilean producer Fabula proposed to all of us who were unemployed to participate, to help with this production in any way. I was made part of the team that coordinates extras, where I feel very comfortable," said Mario Sepulveda, a local miner.

The movie is being shot in English, and expected to be released next year.
