海地地震5年后仍在挣扎

Five years after the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, 80-thousand people who lost their homes are still living in temporary camps. The government has come under fierce criticism for the slow rebuilding work, and for failing to organize elections in keeping with a constitutional calendar. Our correspondent Liling Tan has more from New York.

It's been five years since that magnitude-7.0 earthquake devastated Haiti, killing some 200-300 people, injuring hundreds of thousands others, and leaving the nation in ruins. And in this five years, Haiti's role to recovery has been a long and difficult one.

In a statement marking the 5th anniversary of the earthquake, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon paid tribute to the victims. Why has it been so difficult? Well, two main issues. The first is poverty level has been continued to worsen. And also of course the political situation there is a huge factor functioning government.
