Guangdong Southern Tigers were facing elimination in the semi-finals of the CBA playoffs as they were down two games to none in their best of five series against the defending champions Beijing Ducks. The Southern Tigers, who were this year's regular season winners were at home to the Ducks for the make or break game three.

To stay alive, the home side would need to contain the in-form Stephon Marbury and Guangdong starts Emmanuel Mudiay in place of Jeff Adrien.

The Southern Tigers are focused early as big man Yi Jianlian is once again solid in the paint.

The hosts dominate much of the play in the first half. Mudiay finds Wang Shipeng for the trey to open a six-point lead midway through the first quarter.

Yi's driving flush puts them up by ten and he would lead Guangdong with 23 points.

Beijing struggle with low shooting percentages. Randolph Morris contributes 27 points for a sluggish Ducks' offence, marred by 17 turnovers in the contest.

Beijing seems a different team from the previous two games and Guangdong extends the lead to 23 points at half-time.

The Ducks finally fall to Guangdong 110-99, but still lead the series 2-1 and will have another chance to end the series at home on tomorrow.
