缅甸和谈休会
The ongoing peace talks between the Myanmar government and ethnic armed groups will adjourn to take time for finalization of the draft nationwide ceasefire agreement being discussed.
Negotiators said there are four points remaining that need a consensus from the top level of both sides, in order to be concluded. The talks will resume on March 30th. But both sides have shown signs of flexibility that could lead to breaking the impasse.
"All parties are determined, and hopes are high this time that the negotiations will achieve better results than those before. I can tell the public this - up till now, everything has been agreed upon expect for one major clause in chapter six and three minor wording problems of chapter seven. If we can reach an agreement on these, the ceasefire will be finalized," said U Hla Maung Shwe, from Myanmar Peace Center.
"If the national ceasefire deal can be reached, this will not only reduce ethnic conflicts, but, I think, lead to an end of the civil war," said Hkun Okker, National Ceasefire Coordination Team.
