伦敦之后奥运会预期高

In Rio de Janeiro, the 500-day countdown for next year's Paralympics has begun. Last time out, in London 2012, the event was described by the International Paralympic Committee President, Sir Phillip Cravan, as the best Games ever.

But with the controversies and problems surrounding Rio at the moment, it will certainly be a tough challenge to match the efforts of Britain's capital three years ago.

It has been a problematic ride for everyone involved in organising next summer's Games in Rio. As water pollution and questions over the spending of public money are just two of the worries going into the events. But IPC Vice President Andrew Parsons believes that despite these issues, Rio will deliver.

"It's a very complex event, both the Olympics and the Paralympics. Rio de Janeiro is a city of some complexity, because you have some challenges in terms of size of the city, the topography."

"But we are confident that we will deliver Games at the highest level to the athletes, Games that will leave a long-lasting legacy to the city, to the country, and also to South America," said Andrew Parsons, IPC Vice President.
