阿尔萨德官方宣布哈维加盟
Veteran midfielder Xavi Hernandez has been unveiled by Al Sadd in Qatar. The former Barcelona man announced that he would be calling it a day at the Nou Camp in April and joins the 2011 Asian Champions on a two-year-deal.
Xavi had a decorated career in Spain and a successful 12-year spell with his hometown club, which ended with him lifting the Uefa Champions League trophy Saturday after Barcelona defeated Juventus in Berlin.
During his unveiling at Al Sadd, Xavi said that, at some point after playing, he would like to go into coaching. The midfielder has featured in four of Barcelona's Champions League title wins as well as winning eight La Liga trophies.
The Catalan was also an integral part of a golden period for the Spanish national team, being at the heart of the side that won back to back European Championships in 2008 and 2012 and the World Cup in 2010.
Despite the 35-year-old reaching the end of his career, he says he still has a huge hunger to compete.
Xavi said:"I have a lot of motivation in continuing competing at a high football playing level, and to be part of the Aspire Academy, and to train myself and my brothers as World Cup ambassador makes me ecstatic to be working in this capacity for the 2022 World Cup. I have a two-year contract with Al-Sadd, plus an option to extend. There are seven years until 2022, and I'm very excited."
