微软新系统望收复失地
After a not-so-popular Windows eight, Microsoft has now launched its latest operating system, Windows ten, with a little more caution. The tech giant hopes this latest offering will enable the company to reclaim relevance in the personal computer market and compete with mobile devices.
Microsoft is on a mission to make Windows king again. And it's trying to do so with its latest offering - Windows ten. It offers consumers a brand new interface that is touch-friendly. And, new features like Cortana - Microsoft's virtual personal assistant smoother and faster web browser called 'Edgend, the beloved Start menu is coming back.
Microsoft it also making a shift in how it makes money by selling apps, videogames and other add-ons.
Almost a decade ago, over 90 percent of all devices on the Internet relied on Windows. Today, with the rise of smartphones and tablets running operating systems like Android and iOS, that number is down to 15 percent. So, for Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, getting Windows ten right is imperative.
Nadella wants consumers to not just need Windows, but to choose it and, more importantly, love it. If Windows ten proves to be a success, Microsoft's next challenge will be to convert the P-C users to mobile customers.
