昂山季素领导的缅甸全国民主联盟赢得大选
Myanmar's National League for Democracy, led by Aung San Suu Kyi, appears to have scored a sweeping victory in the country's first openly contested election in 25 years.
According to preliminary results released by Myanmar's Union Election Commission, the NLD took 49 of the 52 announced seats in the House of Representatives and 47 of the 52 announced seats in the Region or State parliament. The election commission will announce more preliminary results for other seats in the coming days.
An NLD spokesman said the party expected to win about 70 percent of all seats. More than 6,000 candidates from 91 political parties and 310 independent candidates are competing for more than 1,000 seats at three levels of parliament.
The military-backed Union Solidarity Development has been in power since 2011.
