普京下令俄海军与法国合作
Russia is also continuing its strikes against ISIL. President Vladimir Putin has called on his navy to cooperate with its French counterparts 'as allies'. It would mark the first time that Paris and Moscow have jointly fought a common foe since World War Two.
"In the future, the French aircraft-carrier fleet will join the actions in the region. We should establish direct contact with the French Navy. The two will fight along with each other as allies," Putin said.
The remarks come after Moscow announced that the Russian passenger plane crash in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula on October the 31st, was the result of a terrorist attack. Putin has since ordered Russian security services to find and punish the terrorists responsible.
In addition, Russia has adjusted its airstrike campaign to add several long-range bombers to the fight, marking the first time the country has deployed such aircraft in Syria. According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, twelve Tu-22 long-range bombers have attacked extremist group positions. And Tu-160 and Tu-95 strategic bombers have launched 34 air cruise missiles against militants in Ar Raqqah and Dayr az Zawr.
A top Russian general says that 37 more jetplanes will soon be deployed to Syria, including Su-34 bomber jets and Su-27 fighter jets.
