考点7  考查序数词或最高级前定冠词的使用

根据英语习惯，在形容词最高级前要用定冠词。如：

This is the most difficult of the three. 这是三个中最难的。

Winter is the coldest season of the year. 冬天是一年最冷的季节。

但是，副词最高级前的定冠词有时也可以省略。如：

Who works (the) hardest? 谁工作最努力?

另外，在序数词最高级前也要用定冠词，用以表示特定的顺序。如：

September is the ninth month of the year. 9月是一年的第9个月。

It was the first time she had seen him since Wednesday. 星期三以来这是她第一次见他。

【考例1】________ youngest leader in China is ________ man called Lu Hao.

A. The; a               B. A; the                 C. A; a                    D. An; a

【分析】答案选A。第一空应填定冠词，因为其后有形容词最高级youngest；第二空填不定冠语，表泛指。

【考例2】Welcome to our hotel. It’s ________ in the city.

A. good                 B. better                 C. best                   D. the best

【分析】答案选D。由于是在北京范围内进行比较，故要用最高级，而最高级前面习惯上要用定冠词。故选D。

考点8  考查固定搭配中冠词的使用

冠词在固定搭配中的用法比较复杂，主要视习惯而定。英语中有关的搭配非常多，同学们在复习时应注意积累。下面略举几例：

as a result 结果                                  as a rule 通常

by the way 顺便说一句                     go to the cinema 去看电影

have a look 看一看                           have a try试一试

have a swim 游泳                              have a rest 休息

have a word with 同某人说句话      have a good time 玩过得开心

【考例1】—How do you go to ________ work?

—I usually take ________ bus.

A. the, a                B. 不填, a              C. a, a                    D. the, 不填

【分析】答案选B。go to work为固定搭配，意为“去上班”，其中不用冠词，由此可确定答案为B。注意第二空要填不定冠词，take a bus意为“乘公共汽车”，但是如果是用by bus来表示“乘公共汽车”，则不能用冠词。

【考例2】—Will you get there by ________ train?

—No, I’ll take ________ taxi. (http://www.hxen.net/) 

A. 不填; a             B. a; the                 C. 不填; 不填       D. the; a

【分析】答案选A。英语中“by+交通工具”表示方式，在表示交通工具的名词前通常不用冠词；第二空为固定搭配，take a taxi意为“乘出租车”。
