Only five people fled (from) the burning house. 只有五个人从起火的房屋里逃了出来。

He was forced to flee (from) the country. 他被迫逃离这个国家。

2. 在英国英语中，有时用 fly 来表示 flee 的意思。如：

He flew (from) the country. 他逃亡国外。

注：flee 和 fly 的名词形式均为 flight(逃，逃跑)。如：

Many soldiers fell wounded in their flight from thedefeat. 许多士兵在溃逃中受伤。

◆flood n. & v.

1. 用作名词，是可数名词，但除少数情况(如有形容词修饰等)之外，通常可用复数形式。如：

It was a serious flood. 那是一次严重的水灾。

Floods in this area caused more than 1000 deaths. 这个地区涨的洪水造成了1000多人的死亡。

The heavy rain caused floods in the houses by the river. 这场大雨下得河边的房子都进了水。
