一、astir的用法

1.【文】起床的 (awake and out of bed)

作表语。例如：

He's never astir before 10 o'clock.他从不在10点钟以前起床。

2. 激动地；轰动的；骚动的( excited about sth or in an excited state)

(1) 作表语。例如：

The whole village was astir as the visitors arrived. 客人来到时，全村为之轰动。

The whole town was astir with the news. 消息传来，全城轰动。

(2) 作宾语补足语。例如：

News of the Queen's visit set the whole town astir. 女王到访的消息轰动全城。

(3) 作后置定语。例如：

The night was quiet, and there was no sound of anything astir. 夜很静,一点响动也没有。

二、astir的搭配

astir with / at。例如：

The whole town was astir with / at the news. 消息传来，全城轰动。

【注】astir不可以用very修饰。杨发河着《英语形容词句型指南》(江西高校出版社1992年12月第1版)p28上说：astir可以用very much/much修饰，而实际上，在BUY-BNC BRTISH NATIONAL CORPUS (UK,1980s-1993) (Mark Davies, Brigham Young University ) http://corpus.byu.edu/bnc/和BUY CORPUS OF AMERICAN ENGLISH (1990-2009) (Mark Davies, Brigham Young University) http://www.americancorpus.org/ 上无有一例包含very much/much astir的例证，由此看来，英美人是不用very much / much 来修饰 astir 的(www.hxen.net)。
