Americans continue with their sweeping wins in SWATCH FIVB

2008-06-28来源:
(BEIJING, June 27)-- Among the 'final eight' for this week's SWATCH FIVB World Tour Stavanger stop, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh of the Untited States remain unbeatable in their expedition, together with three pair of compatriot duos, second-seeded Nicole Branagh/Elaine Youngs, seven-seeded Tyra Turner/Rachel Wacholder and eighth-seeded Jen Boss/April Ross.

After posting consecutive wins this week over teams from Norway, Germany and Cuba, Misty and Kerri have up to now extended their winning streak to 58 matches. They seem to be on the way to winning the final gold medal. If successful, this will be their first gold medal claimed at the ConocoPhillips Grand Slam. In their previous three Vaagen Harbor appearances, Misty and Kerri finished fourth, second and third respectively.

The legendary American pair has since the end of the 2006 season won a row of 71 matches, if not interrupted by a 21-19 and 21-19 loss to the Chinese pair of Jia Tian and Jie Wang in the 2007 ConocoPhillips Grand Slam semifinals.

With their compatriots Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausse considered gold-favorites on the men's side, Americans seem to be continuing with their sweeping wins this time around in Stavanger.
