Whip 这个词的原意是指拿鞭子抽打，但当人家说“I am whipped.”时通常指的不是“我被鞭子打了”，而是说“我很听女(男)朋友的话”，或是更传神一点“被另一半管得死死的”，例如有些女生会不准她男朋友跟以前的朋友在一起，还有不管何时何地她都要男朋友陪，如果男生也乖乖地听话了，这时我们就说他：“He is whipped.”

还有什么样的人可以称得上 whipped 呢? 以下是一些经验法则 1.“If one calls his girlfriend right after getting out of a movie to tell her how it is, then he is whipped.” (如果有人一出电影院就打电话给女友的话, 他就是很听话。) 2. “If one never hangs out with his friends because he is too tied up with his girlfriend then he is whipped.(如果有人因为跟女朋友活动排得太满而没时间跟朋友出去的话，他就是很听话。) ”
