[误] The machine wants to repair.

[正] The machine wants to be repaired.
The machine wants repairing.

翻译：这机器要修理。

讲解：动词 want 也和动词 need 一样，后接动名词时要用主动，后接不定式时才可以用被动，用主动便错了。如果以人做主语，也就可以用主动的不定式了，同时也可接被动的不定式，例如 He wants to buy a watch. He wants to be notified beforehand.
