翻译：要使中国的农民富起来不是短时期内能办到的事。

讲解：在英语中，rich 是一种很高的生活水准，要相当富有。很显然，这里的“富起来”远谈不上 rich，只是生活有所提高的意思，即 have some improvement。此处把 rich 换成 better-off 也可以。
