Do you use any of the social networking websites which are so popular these days?
大家在使用眼下比较流行的一些社交网站吗?

You know - the places where you can connect up with friends and relatives and meet people who share the same interests as you?
就是那些你可以跟朋友和亲戚联系并且认识跟自己有相同爱好的人的那种网站。

If you're younger you may use MySpace, young adults are more likely to be found on Facebook and busy professionals may prefer something like LinkedIn.
如果你是比我要年轻一点的人,你也许正在使用MySpace。更年轻一点的人更有可能在用Facebook。忙碌的专业人士呢,更喜欢LinkedIn。

But at least two of these sites have one thing in common: apart from being social spaces where you can meet and chat to people, share photos and other things, they've all added new verbs and nouns to the language in the past couple of years.
但是,这些网站中至少有两个网站会有一个 共同点:除了本身是一种社交场合,大家可以在上面认识朋友并和别人聊天,分享照片或是其它的东西,在过去几年里,他们还为英语增加了很多新的动词和名词。

Let's take a look at some examples...
让我们来看几个例子:

I've just facebooked the photos from my summer holiday (uploaded them to my facebook page).
我刚把暑假里的照片传到了Facebook上。

I facebooked that guy John and it turns out he's an architect (looked him up in Facebook).
我在Facebook上看了John这个人,他原来是个建筑师。

Did you facebook Susan about the party? (contact Susan through her Facebook page).
关于派对的事,你用Facebook联系Susan没有?

Anyway, nice to meet you. Do you mind if I facebook you? (add you as a Facebook friend).
言归正传,很高兴认识人,你介意我把你加到Facebook好友上吗?

As you can see, 'facebook' is a pretty versatile word, and you could say the same about 'myspace', which you will find being used in much the same way all over the Net.
大家已经看到了,facebook是个多功能的词,myspace也是这样,大家会发现其在网络上的用法跟facebook不相上下。

LinkedIn (being a more adult, professional community) is yet to succumb to such cavalier twisting of the English language!
LinkedIn是种专业人士使用的网站还没有屈服与这种英语中傲慢且扭曲的语言现象。

And while you're 'facebooking' or 'myspacing' you may also find yourself 'commenting' (writing a comment on someone's Facebook or MySpace page), as in this example:
大家在使用facebook或者myspace时还可能会(给别人的facebook或者Myspace)写留言。例如:

I commented Dawn that she should come to the pub on Saturday and she commented me that she couldn't because she was going away for the weekend'.
我给Dawn在留言里说让她周六应该来酒吧。她说她来不了因为她周末不在。

Anyway, I must get on. I haven't facebooked yet today and there's sure to be a lot to catch up on!
不管怎么说,我得赶紧。今天还没有登录facebook,有好多东西要赶呢。
