1. by oneself
单独地，独自地；
eg. One should learn to deal with one's problems by oneself.
每个人应该学会自己独立解决问题。
eg. He can't manage all this by himself.
他一个人忙不过来。
2. stand still
站着不动，停滞不前；
eg. He gave a start of astonishment, and stood still.
他吃惊地一愣，站着不动了。
eg. aw must be stable, and yet it cannot stand still.
法律应该是稳定的，但不能停止不前。
3. get a chance to do sth.
有机会/机遇做某事；
eg. The electoral council announced that all eligible people would get a chance to vote.
