In a dramatic gamble, British prime minister Boris Johnson has suspended parliament in the run-up to Brexit. The Queen has agreed to suspend parliament for almost five weeks in a move that's already been called a 'constitutional outrage'. It's angered MP's across the political divide, and there are calls for a vote of no confidence in the government, and a general election. But Mr Johnson is confident his plan will work.

The New South Wales Labor party has suspended its general secretary Kaila Murnain, after a day of damning revelations at an inquiry into political donations. In sensational evidence to the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Ms Murnain claimed the ALP's lawyer advised her to keep quiet about a 100-thousand dollar donation from a Chinese billionaire. Labor officials met last night and suspended Ms Murnain until further notice.
Thousands of mourners are expected to attend the state funeral for former deputy prime minister, Tim Fischer, in the New South Wales city of Albury today. Commemorating his love for trains, his coffin will be transported by rail to the local station. His funeral service will then be held at the Albury Entertainment Centre. Mr Fischer died last week from cancer at the age of 73.
