A legislation to overturn the so-called medevac law has passed the Parliament with the backing of crossbench senator Jacqui Lambie. Senator Lambie told Parliament she still cannot reveal the details of her negotiation with the Australian Government because it would risk Australia's national security. The government denies it reached secret deal with the crossbencher. The medevac legislation gives doctors more power to transfer refugees and asylum seekers to Australia for medical treatment.
The US House Intelligence Committee has voted to adopt the impeachment inquiry report it released earlier today, forming the basis of any formal impeachment charges against President Donald Trump. The report accuses Mr Trump of attempting to solicit foreign interference on his behalf in the 2020 election. It also alleges what has obstructed justice by telling witnesses not to appear before the inquiry.
A major international report card of 600,000 students has found that Australia's maths, science and reading results are in decline. South Australia, Tasmania and Northern Territory have fallen below the OECD average for the first time. These are the Australia's worst scores recorded for the subjects since 2000.
