AP News:美国国家情报局局长辞职

President Obama says he is cautiously optimistic about his successor, President-elect Donald Trump. Obama spoke after meeting with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin on Thursday. He also said he hopes Trump will stand up to Russia when it deviate from international norm.

Meanwhile, Vice President-elect Mike Pence made the rounds on Capitol Hill, sitting down with Republican and Democratic leaders. He spent more than a decade in Congress before he became Indiana's governor.

The U.S. Director of National Intelligence says he's formally submitted his resignation. James Clapper has long said he planned to retire at the end of the Obama administration. He told the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday that he submitted his letter of resignation on Wednesday evening.

And a cross-crountry runner was able to finish an NCAA regional race after he was knocked off his feet by a deer at the DeSales University in Pennsylvania. The deer struck him in the stomach as other deer ran across the course.
