Even as Donald Trump looks for warmer relations with Russia, two of his key nominees are sounding alarms. Defense secretary nominee James Mattis told senators that Russian President Vladimir Putin is trying to break the NATO alliance. Trump's nominee to head the CIA, Congressman Mike Pompeo, is criticizing Russia's invasion of Ukraine and what he says is its failure to help defeat the Islamic State group.
The Justice Department's Inspector General will launch an investigation into the department and FBI's actions in the months leading up to the 2016 election. The probe will include whether department policies were properly followed by FBI Director James Comey. Democrats list some of Comey's actions as among the reasons for her loss.
Six children are presumed dead after a fire tore through a Baltimore home. One body has been found at the home and six children from the family who were missing after the fire are presumed dead.
The San Diego Chargers are moving to Los Angeles. They will join the recently relocated Rams and giving the nation's second largest media market two NFL teams for the first time in decades. San Diego voters resoundingly rejected the team's sponsor measure asking for more than a billion dollars in increased hotel taxes to help fund the downtown stadium and convention center.
