AP News:休斯顿市长呼吁洪水灾民撤离

2017-09-04来源:和谐英语

This is AP News Minute.

The mayor of Houston is telling residents whose homes are still flooded in the western part of the city to evacuate. Sylvester Turner says reservoir releases will keep water flowing into their homes for 10 to 15 days. Up to 20,000 homes will continue to flood.

President Donald Trump says Sunday will be a national day of prayer for those impacted by hurricane Harvey. He also praised recovery efforts.

Trump also says he will announce a decision next week on DACA -- that's the program that covers people who are illegally brought into the country as children. Top Republicans are urging Trump to keep DACA protections in place.

And check out the world's tallest sand castle. The 55-foot-tall structure took three and a half week to construct. It contains 3,500 tons of sand.
