AP News:警方调查拉斯维加斯枪击案

2017-10-09来源:和谐英语

This is AP News Minute.

President Donald Trump and the First Lady got their first up-close look at Puerto Rico's damage following Hurricane Maria. The president met with officials and residents in San Juan, including the city's mayor, who has blasted the administration over the federal government's slow response to the crisis.

A dozen investigators entered the Las Vegas concert site Tuesday, combing through the scene for evidence. The motive remains unclear. The shooter, Stephen Paddock, had nearly two dozen guns in his hotel room and two devices called "bump stocks," which convert semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic ones, boosting the weapon's ability to be fired quickly.

House Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters there is no plan to act soon on NRA-backed legislation to ease regulations on gun silencers. Democrats, meanwhile, are pushing gun control. The Chairman of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force said more people died in the Las Vegas shooting than in any one day in US military operations in recent years in Afghanistan or Iraq.
