A British man accused of belonging to an Islamic State group cell that captured, tortured and killed western hostages in Syria says their killing was "regrettable" and could have been avoided. Alexanda Amon Kotey tells the Associated Press in an interview that many people within this Islamic State group would have disagreed with the executions.
Pope Francis presided over the Lord's Passion Mass at St. Peter's Basilica as part of solemn services, marking the Good Friday holiday. At the start of the most solemn period of the Catholic church calender, Francis struggled to lay prostrate in front of the altar in the basilica before the chant-filled evening service got underway.
