Weather forecasters say Tuesday set a new record of 12 consecutive days with at least 8 tornadoes. Also Tuesday, the National Weather Service received reports of at least 27 tornadoes, including one near Kansas city.

On the anniversary of the first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953, there's a traffic jam on the world's tallest peak. The climbing season has been marred by 11 deaths, including 2 Americans, in Nepal and China.
