The White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has resigned after President Trump appointed Anthony Scaramucci as his communications director. During a media briefing, the new man, a wall street financier, said he was committed to getting the administration message out. He denied there had been intensions over his appointment.

Three Palestinians have been killed in clashes in east Jerusalem in continuing protests over Israel’s decision to install metal detectors at the holy sites in the city. All three are reported to have been shot but Israel army said it was only operating in one of the three streets where the death occurred.

The US military says its planes accidently bombed a unit of Afghanistan security personnel in Helmand Province, killing several of them in a statement describing the death as unfortunate.

The United States has confirmed they will ban their citizens from travelling to North Korea. A spokesperson from the State Department cited mounting concerns over the seriours risks of arrest, long-term detention as a reason for the move.

The US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has said he believes the leader of the Islamic State Group Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is still alive. Last month, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister said Moscow was investigating whether AL-Bhagdadi had died during a Russian bombing in Raqqa.

The opposition-led national assembly in Venezuela has appointed 30 new judges to Supreme Court in a move that could spark a legal wrangle. The law makers defended their right to name and fire judges but the court itself has warned the move is illegal.

The Argentine government has been forced to postpone a bill on reducing the age of criminal responsibility to 14 after a television interview with a 11 year old drug user has sparked controversy. The boy said he killed a drug pusher because he wouldn’t give him any drugs.

The 8th Francophone Games for French speaking countries has began in Ivory Coast’s main city Abidjan. 4,000 young competitors will take part. 10,000 members of the security forces have been deployed to protect the event.
