BBC在线收听下载:英国与伊朗分别扣押对方油轮
Hello, this is David Austin with the BBC news.
Iran's deputy Foreign Minister has linked the British seizure of an Iranian tanker with efforts to save the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Arriving at talks in Vienna with the remaining parties to the deal, Abbas Araqchi called the detention of the vessel a violation of the agreement. Iran has impounded a British tanker in what is seen as a tit for tat move. Bethany Bell is in Vienna. The remaining parties to the landmark Iran deal are struggling to hold it together. The Europeans say they want to save the accord, but the recent tensions between Iran and Britain over tankers are making that harder. Last week, Iran impounded a British-flaged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz apparently in retaliation for Britain detaining an Iranian tanker in Gibraltar. The EU has called on Iran to return to the limits on its sensitive nuclear work, but Iran is threatening further breaches of the deal unless more is done to help it circumvent the punishing US sanctions. Though specifically about the exclusion of opposition candidates in upcoming local elections in moscow, the demonstration channeled anger towards President Putin. More than a thousand people were detained.
