The Dutch government has admitted for the first time one of its fighter jets carried out an air strike in northern Iraq four years ago, which killed about 70 people including civilians. The defense ministry said the target of the attack was an Islamic state bomb factory in Hawija near Kirkuk, but the explosion later killed many people nearby.

The impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump has published the testimony of the former U.S ambassador to Ukraine. She said she was told to tweet praise for the president to save her job. Marie Yovanovitch told the congress hearing that she felt threatened by Mr.Trump's comments that she was bad news in his call to Ukraine's president.

The Congolese government says since the beginning of the year there have been 300 attacks on health workers fighting the Ebola virus in the east of the country. A health ministry report says that six people have been killed and 70 injured.

British MPs have elected a new speaker of the house of commerce to replace the high-profile former holder of the post John Bercow. The new speaker is Lindsay Hoyle, who was regarded as a safe pair of hands.

Reports from Guinea say one person has died after the security force opened fire on people protesting about police violence during the recent demonstrations against president Alpha Condé. Hundreds of people marched with the coffin of protesters shot by police.

The health ministry in Iraq says four people have been killed and 75 others injured during continuing anti-government protests in the capital Baghdad. The protests have been fueled by anger of corruption and unemployment.

A major investigation in Canada has found high levels of lead in drinking water suppliers. More than 100 journalists and researchers from nine universities spent a year studying 12,000 samples taken from cities across the country.
