Republicans and democrats in the U.S Senate have clashed over the impeachment of President Trump. The chamber's democratic leader Chuck Schumer accused the Republican majority of being blindly loyal to Mr.Trump. The majority leader Mitch McConnell said house demarcates have been motivated by partisan rage.
Russia's security agency, the FSB says one of its officials has been killed by a gunman, who opened fire outside its headquarters in Moscow. Five people have been treated for injuries. The FSB said the assailant had been eliminated.
After week of protests and deadlock, the former education minister Hassan Diab has been asked to form a new government in Lebanon. So far, he has only got the backing of the Shiite movement, Hezbollah and his allies and there have already been demonstrations against his appointment.
The government of Haiti says it will demand action from the United Nations after a recent study found girls as young as 11 had been sexually abused by UN personnel. The Foreign Minister Bocchit Edmond said the abuses had to face justice.

People in Sudan have been celebrating the first anniversary of the overthrow of Omar al-Bashir. The long-serving leader was sentenced to two years imprisonment on Saturday in the first of many cases against him.
