One year after the shocking death of Michael Jackson, his peers recall an immensely talented performer gone too soon.

“I mean, just as a performer, anybody who does what we do, sings and dances, as an entertainer looks up to him because he did it at such a high level, you know? He did it, everybody’s like I wanna be Michael Jackson.”

“He’s a unique talent and the thought that he’s not here anymore is a little sad because, you know, it shouldn’t have been like that.”

Jackson, who died at the age of 50 on June 25 last year, was preparing to make a comeback with a new concert series, ‘This is It’.

During the last days of his life, the King of Pop was keeping a rigorous rehearsal schedule despite concerns about his health.

Autopsy results revealed Jackson died from an overdose of the powerful sedative, Propofol, administered by his physician, Dr. Conrad Murray.Murray is currently awaiting trial for manslaughter.

Almost a year to the day he died, some stars still struggle to believe that Jackson is gone.

“No, I’m not believing it, I’m not buying it, he’s still here, he’s hiding somewhere, I don’t care. I’m waiting for ‘This is It’ to happen. I can’t believe it.”

“Has it been a year already? That was a year ago? No, it doesn’t feel like a year, it feels like it just happened.”

Even after his death, Jackson’s music continues to generate millions of dollars.

His estate grew more than a billion dollars in the past 12 months, from a combined revenue of album sales, a posthumous record deal, and a theater and DVD run of ‘This Is It’, which is considered the most successful concert film ever.

“He was just, he was an incredible talent. There’s never been someone like him and I don’t think there ever will be and I, you know, we all will remember him the same way. He’s just a complete superstar.”
