When talking about female bosses, many people associate them with Miranda in the comedy "The Devil Wears Prada."
Of course, film is not life. In the real world, most female bosses are not as demanding or tough as Miranda. But indeed women are more sensitive and tender, so it forces you to pay more attention to get along with your female boss. The same charges are repellent. If you are also a female employee, be more careful.
Rule One: Dress appropriately 跟女老板一起工作,外在形象要格外注意。
Rachel just job moved to a PR company from a fashion magazine.
R: I think my boss has a prejudice against me! She never gives me any important work to do. I have been in this office for 3 months, and all I do are just chores! You know, I think my work here is totally pointless. Come on! My last job was editor-in-chief. I am more capable than just sending off papers or making some phone calls. The other day, a co-worker secretly told me, the reason why I cannot be trusted with heavy responsibilities is that the boss has a problem with how I dress. Can you believe this? I worked at a fashion magazine, and I know exactly how to dress. Look at me. This dress is from the newest collection of LV, my bag is Gucci and my fragrance is Dior! This is a perfect out fit. I don't know what her problem is.
Linda is Rachel's boss. She gives her reason.
L: I reminded Rachel on her very first day that what we care about is employee competence rather than appearance. This is a PR company. We want you to be creative and professional, not just beautiful. Rachel pays too much attention on her appearance and during the break times, all she talks about is fashion, like what brand released a new collection or how much she paid for her new shoes. I don't think she is in the mood to work. I am going to talk to her this week. She has to know how to fit in to our company.
Suggestion: Every company has its own dress code, that's for sure. And female bosses are usually more intolerant of your thick makeup or overdressed style. On the other hand, focusing just on your work and being slovenly is not a good choice either. Every boss wants their employees to look confident and energetic. So dress simple, proper, and in a good taste. This can make them think you are trustworthy.
Rule Two: Be good at keeping secrets. 绝不传闲话。
Emma just swallowed the bitter fruit of being a gossiper.
E: I had been the manager's assistant for 4 years. The former boss liked me a lot, and so did the new boss, I mean, in the beginning. As she was new to the department, I told her lots of things in order to help her work be more quickly on track. She was very grateful and often invited me to dinner. Gradually, she began to talk about her personal affairs with me, which is how I know her husband, and he is not as good as he seems. The other day, me and some co-workers had a tea party. When they said how they admired the boss's family, I had a slip of the tongue and said nothing is perfect. Though I shut up quickly, some co-workers sensed it. A tale never loses in telling. After a week, when the boss heard about the story, it already sounded like I deliberately told others her husband was going to divorce her. She was very angry and quickly demoted me several levels.
Suggestion: It's always easy for two women find something to talk about. But all these conversations should be just between you two. Female bosses usually care more about their reputation than the male bosses do. Gossip about themselves is the last thing they want in the office. So no matter what your female boss tells you never let it be known to another person.
