2010-11-11来源:和谐英语

一般的脂肪吃在身体里7天就代谢了,而反式脂肪吃在身体里50天才可以代谢,所以经常吃奶油蛋糕类食物会造成肥胖并会引起健康问题。

Hamburgers, instant coffee, cream cake… are these your favorite foods? Experts say they will cause health problems if you eat too much, due to the Hydrogenated oil they have.

However, 80 percent of our daily food and snacks are processed with hydrogenated oil, which brings trans fat, thus putting people at higher risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Zhao Lin from China PLA General Hospital explains:

"The trans fat takes very long time to be digested, about 51 days. So when kids have too much trans fat, they will become overweight, as there is too much junk oil in their bodies. You see those french fries, pie, which both have an extremely high amount of hydrogenated oil."

Zhao Lin says over 5 percent of trans fat has been found in some snacks such as chocolate wafer cream and pie in China. In Europe, any food with more than 2 percent trans fat are prohibited. Here is Zhao Lin again.

"People should be informed of the content of the food they buy, so that they can make an choice. According to the World Health Organization, food that contains over 0.5 percent trans fat should be labeled."

Zhang Jian from the Chinese Center of Disease Control and Prevention says trans fat can have a negative impact on the body's metabolism. And it may cause more than just weight problems.

"Also it will do harm to the immune system, and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease."

Currently, trans fat can be found in lots of food, including potato chips, instant noodles, custard pie, and fried chicken. Experts say this does not mean these foods should be excluded from our daily life. Zhang Jian says:

According to the World Health Organization, it's ok to have these food with less then two grams of trans fat every day.

It's stipulated in China that hydrogenated oil is strictly prohibited in baby food. And for other food in the market, some experts organized by the Ministry of Health are working on evaluating the risks of trans fat.

In the United States, the amount of trans fat must be labeled for processed foods that contains trans fat. In the future, the practice of marking trans fat on food packages should be also taken into practice in China.
