Politics is something George Clooney is passioned about so much so that he wrote, directed and starred in the film centered around a political race. The Ides of March is a thriller about a democratic presidential hopeful whose campaign couldn't derail by some crucial information. Here's a clip from the Ides of March, and Clooney's conversation with ABC's Peter Travers about his thoughts on the state of our government.

It says we're gonna help people get education, we're gonna create a national unity, we're gonna teach young people a trade, and we're gonna get the money of debt for the college loans, so what does that fail?

All of that is exactly for a government, it's just, if you're gonna do it, do it. Make a mandatory , not voluntary.

And I will poll well.

Tell me as we begin, (um..) what's the lousy, what's awful about being George Clooney.

Interview shows, (really) yeah, (that's normally thing) it's really,  that's not so bad.

No, it's, actually it's not so painful.

'Cause you usually escape that. (hehe....), so many times.

I'm, I'm having.. You know, um, I'm having, I'm having a pretty good time, right now in life. You know, that was funny because as we put it on Ides of March, you know I played a guy running for president. Again, it sorts of starts these questions "would you ever want to run for politics, for being a politics " And I think, look at my wife, who look at everybody else's life of politics, here you go, why would I ever want to do that. I 'm having a very good time. "

It seemed for you, for the movies that you made as a film,  is more cynical than anything that you have made before ?

It is.

Are you disillusioned by Obama now ? ( If there is something..)

No, no, I'm disillusioned by the people, they are disillusioned by Obama. Quite the same, I'm...You know, Democrats eat their own, Democrats find singular issues and they go well, like, I didn't get everything I wanted, " I'm a firm believer and sticking by, and sticky up for the people that you've elected, you know, there's a big effort to get a lot of things done. If he was a Republican running, because Republicans are better at this, and spend a lot of time with Marry Medellin and Micheal Denver, really good consultants. They will be selling him as a guy who stop 400,000 jobs in a month from leaving the country, they'll be selling him as guy who saved the auto industry, if they had a belief, they'll be selling him as a man who got rid of Don't ask, Don't tell. you have tons of things you could count, you got Osama Bin Laden, (um,) you'd be selling these very successful 3 years. When we want to talk it about how we elect the people, and the deals we make a long win, we thought that was an interesting way we' re doing, we knew, I knew that the only way I was gonna be a lot of to do, because I'm a Democrat. I've been through a lot about that at times was that I make a democrat, so that the floors are you know, the democrats. It's probably gonna be a way I was gonna be able to get a way of making the film.

The Ides of March also stars Ryan Gosling, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Marisa Tomei, And it's in theaters now.
