美国前圣地亚哥市长豪赌输10亿美元
The former San Diego mayor says he who gambled away a billion dollars has acknowledged taking more than 2 million dollars from her late husband’s charity. Maureen O'Connor cut the deal that would allow her to avoid prosecution while she works to repay the money. She wagered the billion dollars from 2000 to 2009, mainly playing at this video poker. In San Diego, Vegas, and Atlantic city, O'Connor was married to the founder of the Jack&box fastfood chain. She said that she was going through rough time.
“It was of the time that in my life, while I guess the last chapter in my life, where I lost my husband, I lost three my siblings, I lost my two best friends, that I had a difficult time.”
O'Connor also blamed her gambling addiction on a brain tumor, suggesting it impaired her reasoning.
