秘鲁举行气候变化大会
Peruvian authorities have tightened security ahead of the start of the latest UN Climate Change Conference in Lima this month.
Around 200 nations will meet in Lima over the next couple of weeks to try to craft a new global deal to limit rising greenhouse gas emissions.
Peruvian Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar-Vidal says any agreement reached in Lima will be the result of intense negotiations.
"It is a continuous process, it is a process of advancements. Here, one is optimistic because everything is a step-by-step process. Nothing here is going to come from a genie's bottle or a magic lamp. Everything, from here, will come from a continuous process of negotiations that should lead us to an agreement in December 2015 in Paris."
Peruvian security forces have been preparing for different scenarios at the event, including mass demonstrations.
