[02:39.37]Over here between Redsun Mountain and the lake is the blue waterfall,
[02:46.82]one of the biggest in Leshan.
[02:50.66]Between the lake and village is the Moon Tower
[02:55.52]where people can go look at the moon and the stars at night.
[03:01.08]There are too many cars in Leshan and the air is becoming polluted.

[03:16.86]READING A CITY OF HEROES
[03:24.51]Where there is a river,there is a city.
[03:29.06]Perhaps this is not always true,
[03:33.13]but it is true that many of the world's greatest cities
[03:38.38]have been built on the banks of a river.
[03:42.46]The Neva River flows through the centre of St Peterburg in Russia.
[03:48.83]Three hundred years ago,the Russian Czar Peter the Great came here
[03:55.49]and built a new capital--St Petersburg Peter the Great,
[04:02.26]like his country,was strong and proud.
[04:06.70]Many great palaces were built during his lifetime.
[04:11.56]The palaces were large and beautiful,
[04:15.71]and they often looked like something out of a fairy tale.
[04:20.68]St Petersburg has also been the centre of many important events in history.
[04:27.05]In 1941,the Germans tried to destroy the city.
[04:32.90]It was under attack for 900 days,but the people of the city never gave in.
[04:40.27]The Germans burned many of the palaces as they left.
[04:45.23]St Petersburg was almost in ruins:fires burned everywhere.
[04:51.89]Buildings were destroyed, and paintings and statues lay in pieces on the ground.
[04:59.26]Restoring the city and its cultural relics seemed impossible,
[05:05.14]but the people of this great city would not give up,
[05:10.00]"We will not let our history and culture be destroyed,
[05:15.04]and we will do everything we can to save our city!"
[05:20.21]When the Nazis had gone,the people of St Petersburg began rebuilding the city.
[05:27.26]Pieces of the palaces that had been hidden before the Nazis came
[05:33.14]could now be used to rebuild the city and its culture.
