[07:25.20]What we hear on the radio or see on TV
[07:31.27]is only a small part of all the wonderful music that is waiting for us.
[07:39.21]Most of us probably like pop music and have our favourite performers,
[07:46.65]stars or bands,but many of us also want to discover new sounds and rhythms.
[07:55.43]Here is a brief look at some of the exciting musical styles

[08:05.15]Blues music has a long history.
[08:09.90]The blues is a way for people to show who they are and what is in their heart.
[08:17.35]People have been playing the blues for many years,
[08:22.62]but the music has kept many of its characteristics.
[08:28.47]The blues comes from African songs that people used to sing
[08:34.64]when they worked and during festivals.
[08:38.77]The African songs met American music when African slaves were brought to the US.
[08:46.60]The blues has been part of African American culture since then,
[08:52.53]and it is still an important part of American culture.
[08:57.99]Other musical styles,like jazz and rock music,have all come from blues music.

[09:12.62]People still listen to blues and rock,but they also listen to hip-hop and rap.
