Boeing's Dreamliner takes flight

波音公司认为，采用合成材料制成的新飞机更安静，客舱窗户更大，排放的温室气体更少，能让旅客享受到更舒适的旅途环境。另外，航空公司最近几年饱受成本上升之苦，燃料对航空公司来说举足轻重，而波音787与同型号飞机相比，能少消耗20%的燃料。再加上合成材料不易损坏，也可以节省维护和检修费用。

Boeing's revolutionary lightweight 787 Dreamliner took to the skies for the first time, near its factory 30 miles north of Seattle, Washington, becoming the largest passenger jet made mostly of composite materials.

The Dreamliner's first test flight is more than two years behind its original schedule, due to labor and supply problems.

Boeing has taken orders for 840 Dreamliners, which cost at least 150 million dollars apiece.

Boeing's 787 Project Manager, S.F. : " Today is a great day for the Boeing company. We are confident we've created an airplane that will truly change the game. An airplane that is good for the environment because it burns 20%  less fuel, is easier to maintain, resulting in lower operating costs for our customers and has a comfortable cabin interior that will bring back the magic of flight to the traveling public. "

Chicago-based Boeing is hoping the Dreamliner will restore credibility to the No.2 plane-maker behind Airbus.
