More than 700 people, dressed asgorillas, joined London's 7th annual Great Gorilla Run. The event is aimed at helping the world's greatest Great Apes.

The charity run starts outside Minster Court in central London, then follows the River Thames to St Paul's Cathedral, passing Tower Bridge and the Tate Modern Art Gallery. The race covers a total of 7 kilometres.

Event organizer Bill Oddie says there are only 700 mountain gorillas surviving today in the African wild and the race is an expression of awareness to warn people that gorillas are in trouble.

Bill Oddie, Great Gorilla Run Organizer, said, "There is a huge concern that gorillas could go extinct. It's like tigers. It's the same sort of thing, you know. It's an iconic animal that is so, so threatened"

Laura Watson, Great Gorrila Run Participant, said, "It's a fantastic cause, and it's great to see so many people out on a Sunday morning, doing this, raising awareness. All the public along the way were cheering us, it's a great cause to get behind."
