农民工子弟学校里的志愿教师们
Now let's take a look at some volunteer teachers here in Beijing. Due to the large numbers of migrant workers in the city, Beijing has many schools for their children.
However, they lack facilities and staff. Luckily for them, a number of volunteer teachers are on hand to help.
Liu Wen is from Beijing University of Agriculture, and has been a volunteer teacher at Hongli School in Changping District for more than six months. She's deeply fond of her students, and her class, in response, are encouraged by her easy-going teaching and lively spirit.
Liu Wen, Volunteer Teacher, said, "They are very sincere towards people. If they like you, they will hug you and say so. If they don't think you are right, they are unhappy and say 'I'm sorry I don't like it' ."
There are about 600 students at the School. But just 22 teachers, clearly, are not enough.
Li Dengfeng, Headmaster, Hongli School, said, "The volunteer teachers are very helpful. And they are bringing new subjects that our students couldn't normally have, with new horizons and ideas."
A total of seven volunteer teachers are currently working at Hongli School. Most of them are university students and white-collar workers. The school is located in a suburban part of north Beijing. It often takes about 3 hours for the volunteers to get there.
Sun Jixin, Volunteer Teacher, said, "Everyone in society, especially university students, should take part in public-welfare activities."
Yang na, Volunteer Teacher, said, "I've got some spare time, and I think it's a meaningful thing to do to help those kids."
Instead of just sharing knowledge, the teachers say, actually they can learn a lot from their students.
Sun Jixin, Volunteer Teacher, said,"They are very honest kids, and their childhood is pressure-less without burden. They affect me and my life, and make me think."
It's hard to say goodbye to their beloved teachers at the end of the semester. But the volunteers' spirit will never wane.
