Young women will still pray for blessings on the night of Qixi, hoping for wisdom and a long-lasting marriage. And there are typical snacks handed out for the occasion, just like the mooncakes for Mid Autumn Festival.

The bakeries in Shijiazhuang are fully stocked with this kind of pastry now, hoping to attract young people with traditional recipes. The baker says the snack is somewhere between a scones and a cookie.

Marriage Registry Officer, said, "We registered 128 couples on last year's Chinese Valentine's Day. Many couples have already called to make reservations, and I'm sure we'll be seeing more."

The director of Marriage Registry Office says they will extend opening hours around Chinese Valentine's Day. He hopes this office can be the place where happy marriages begin.
