大运会火炬传递在深圳举行

The countdown to the start of the 26th World Universiade is underway. The build-up to the games features a pair of torch relays in Shenzhen, and the first one drew spectators and supporters to the city's downtown on Sunday.
第26届世界大学生运动会开始倒计时活动正在进行中。大运会的准备阶段是以深圳的火炬传递为特色，火炬传递也是第一个吸引观众和支持者周日来到深圳商业区的活动。

The Sunday relay took-over the streets of central Shenzhen and organizers encouraged people from across the city to watch and take part.
星期天的传递活动覆盖了深圳中心地区的街道，组织者鼓励市民观看并参加传递活动。

The second event, on August 11th, will be limited to the area near the Universiade Village in Longgang.

A total of 267 participants in Sunday's 14-kilometer journey followed a route from Binhai Road to the Shenzhen Park. Celebrities including Lang Lang, the famous Chinese painist, and Winter Olympics speed skating champion Yang Yang passed the flame.

Organizers promoted the theme of "making a difference" and created a link with the public by getting more ordinary citizens, including entire families involved.

A torchbearer said, "It is so exciting. This is the first time I participated in such a big event. My family and I have lived in Shenzhen for 8 years now, we are citizens. It's good to open this up for the citizens. It's also good for families to do this together."
