新学期,新的开始
It was back to school for most Chinese students across the country on Thursday, following the end of the summer vacation.
周四,中国全国上下的很多学生结束了暑假,回到学校。
Wearing traditional costumes, tolling a bell and being given a red dot on their foreheads, about 300 pupils attended a Confucian memorial ceremony in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province. Students from low-income families benefited from the generosity of the public, who donated new school bags, uniforms and stationary supplies to ensure they can make the most of the new semester.
穿上传统服饰、撞启蒙钟、额头上被点上朱砂,中国东部江苏省南京市大约300名小学生参加了祭拜孔夫子的仪式。公众的慷慨解难使低收入家庭的学生受益,他们捐赠了新的书包、校服和文具用品,以保证学生可以在新学期里好好学习。
Many students learned important lessons beyond their textbooks, including how to react to natural disasters such as earthquakes. But not everyone was enthusiastic about the new school day. Heavy traffic congestion proved a headache for commuters, with roads in many cities inundated by parents driving their children to school.
很多学生从他们的课本之外学到重要的知识,包括像发生地震这样的自然灾害时应该如何反应。但是,并不是每个人都对新的上学日有热情。很多城市的道路上因家长开车载他们的孩子去上学而堵塞,严重的交通阻塞使通勤者头疼。
