"Steve Jobs", the only authorized biography of the Apple co-founder, hit the Chinese book market at the end of October. The book was written by biographer Walter Isaacson and emerged from scores of interviews with Jobs. Loved by millions of Chinese readers, the book has aroused public interest in when China might have its own Steve Jobs.

Changing the world, Steve Jobs, counted among the greatest American CEOs of his generation, is the first and only technology superstar. Like many Apple products, the biography of Steve Jobs has quickly swept away the Chinese book market.

Qin Hui, general manger assistant from Beijing Books Buildings Company, Ltd, said: "Since the first national publication on Oct. 24th, the book has sold out more than 5000 copies in our bookstore, and it has set up this year's new record."

Jobs could hold an audience unlike most business leaders, bringing massive media attention to his new products. For millions of readers in China, the book has become as alluring as Apple products.

One book reader said: "Steve Jobs have changed the world and influenced many people. I think it's important to do something that could benefit the whole world. This book has brought me new insight and greatly encouraged me."

Another book reader said: "I'm a big fan of Apple. I think Steve Jobs' constant pursuit of innovation and hard work has encouraged us young people."

One book reader said: "I think Chinese people are smart enough to become Steve Jobs, but our education and economic environment might hinder the growth of more innovative talents."

Younger generations may be more willing to enter the media spotlight and may relish a Job-like CEO.

Jobs ensured maximum publicity for his innovations. But some Chinese business leaders make little effort at media and public management. Jobs would most likely become frustrated inside a typical Chinese business with little room for creativity and innovation.

Lee Kaifu, Chairman & CEO of Innovation Works, said: "I think as China rapidly catches up, what will happen naturally is that, Chinese entrepreneurs are not sufficient to copy. It will force Chinese entrepreneurs to be more and more innovative."

Younger generations in China may be slightly less conservative but those born before 1980, the key decision-makers, would act very quickly to the new trend of technology. For many Jobs-wanna-be in China, it takes not only time but a more innovative spirit and a sound educational environment.
