黄西:华裔美籍喜剧演员

Crosstalks are among the most popular forms of entertainment during the Chinese New Year holidays. But one comedian is bringing Chinese humour to the United States.
在中国新年假期期间，相声是最受欢迎的娱乐形式之一。但是有一位喜剧演员将中国式幽默带到了美国。

Joe Wong was born and raised in China. He went to the US in 1994 to study and began to perform comedy in 2001. Since then he’s been bringing in the crowds with his uniquely Chinese sense of humour.
黄西生于中国，长于中国。他1994年前往美国学习，2001年开始演出喜剧。从那时开始，他就为观众带去他独特的中国式幽默感。

This is an ordinary club in the center of Boston. Here, Joe Wong gave his first performance ten years ago and won a lot of applause. From then on, his stand-up comedy career started. Now, he performs each week.
这是波士顿市中心的一家普通俱乐部。10年前，黄西在这里进行了第一次演出，赢得了很多掌声。从那时起，他开始他的单口相声生涯。现在，他每周都有演出。

Every morning, after sending his kid to school, Joe Wong comes to this cafeteria at Harvard Square to drink coffee, and write jokes. He hasn’t gone back to China for more than ten years, but Wong still remembers how he celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year when he was a child.
每天早上，送孩子上学之后，黄西就到哈佛广场的这家自助餐厅喝咖啡，写笑话。他虽然十多年没回中国，但是黄西仍记得他小时候是如何庆祝中国新年的。

Joe Wong said, "I miss frozen pears in my hometown in northeast China. I remember that my younger brother and I saved money for a whole year and spent all of them on firecrackers. And on the first day of the New Year, we always went to streets to find un-lighted firecrackers and light them again. In northeast China, we had a tradition, that is entering into neighbor’s room at the early morning, while they were still asleep."
黄西表示：“我想念中国东北部我的家乡的冻梨。我还记得我和我弟弟将存了一整年的钱拿去买鞭炮。正月初一，我们总会到街上寻找没有点过的鞭炮，再次点着它们。在中国的东北，我们有一项传统，那就是在早上早些时候，邻居还在睡觉的时候进入他们的房间。”

As a Chinese, Wong always brings Chinese humor into his American-style stand-up, and this unique style brought him success. In 2010, at the 66th Annual Radio and Television Correspondence Dinner, his jokes even won the appreciation of the Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden. In the same year, he was named Boston Comedian of the year. Meanwhile, he has become one of the favorite guests of David Letterman, having made multiple appearances on his show.
作为一名中国人，黄西总将中国式幽默带到美国式的单口相声中，这种独特的风格给他带来成功。2010年，在第66届美国记者年会晚宴上，他的笑话甚至赢得美国副总统乔．拜登的赏识。同年，他被评为波士顿年度喜剧演员。同时，他还成为大卫．莱特曼最喜欢的嘉宾之一，多次出现在他的脱口秀节目中。

Wong used to say that failure rate is stupendous, but you never know until you try it. Now with numerous awards he has won in stand-up comedy, Wong proved that he made it.
黄西曾经说过，他的失误率是惊人的，但是你不尝试的话你永远都不知道。现在，有了许多在单口相声中赢得的奖项，黄西证明了他是成功的。
