第84届奥斯卡金像奖倒计时

On Sunday movie fans around the world will have their eyes on Hollywood as hundreds of A-list stars gather for the Oscars. The 84th Academy Awards will take place at the Kodak Theatre. Our Correspondent Michaelene Tetteh is at the Theatre for the preparation for the awards show and has this story.

The countdown is on and the setup is underway. Hollywood is getting prepared for the Oscars.

It's a 17-day long progress to put up the lights. Drapery, posters, scaffolding, seating and everything else that's needed to transform the area outside the Kodak Theatre for the big day.

Construction workers are rolling out the red carpet and carefully putting it into place for hundreds of celebrities to parade across it when they arrive and take their long walk into the theatre. There will be more than 50,000 square feet or 15,000 meters of this famous carpet in and around theatre for the 84th Academy Awards.

Joe Lewis, Oscars pre-show production manager, said, "It is not brand new each year. We recycle the carpet every year what we can and it's made out of 100 percent recycled products so it is specific to the Academy. It is the Academy red."

CCTV's Michaelene Tetteh said, "An item that will be noticeably absent from the red carpet this year, the umbrella. Thanks to the sunny weather the stars will be able to show off their glamorous designer clothes without being covered by this."

Last year at this time there were tents that lined the street in front of the theatre as rained threatened to put a damper on the awards show. Workers were only able to take down the tents the night before when the chance of rain disappeared. Even though it's still winter in California it's been blue skies all week and a zero chance of rain predicted for the day of the Academy Awards.
去年的这个时候，由于下雨影响到颁奖晚会，戏院前面的街道上帐篷成行。在没可能下雨的前一晚，工人们只能将帐篷收起。虽然现在加利福尼亚仍然是冬天，但是整个星期都是蓝天，据预测，奥斯卡金像奖颁奖日下雨的可能性为零。

Robert Rang, Academy Awards art director, said, "There's a rule that if there is a 20 or 30 percent chance of rain we do have to put the rain tents up. For the past couple of years we did take them down."

CCTV's Michaelene Tetteh said, "When the entire setup process is finished it will help to create a visual feast for a worldwide audience that will watch Hollywood's biggest event."
