哈尔滨房屋强拆继续调查

An investigation is continuing, after 6 homes in Harbin were destroyed overnight, as people slept inside. The incident two weeks ago horrified residents of Songtuo Community, but it's being seen as an example of the current conflict between local governments, land developers and residents in many parts of China.
在哈尔滨6户居民的居所夜间遭强拆之后，调查正在继续进行中。两个星期前的这次事件使松拖社区的居民感到恐惧，但是它被认为是中国许多地方当地政府、土地开发商和居民之间当前冲突的一个例子。

These ruins were once home to 6 households.

Mr. Zhang lived here for almost 40 years, until a group of strangers tore his bungalow down as he slept.

It's a night that will stay in his memory for the rest of his life.

Zhang Shengli said, "By about half past ten I was already asleep. Suddenly, there was a lot of noise outside and someone hit my door. I turned on the light and saw the kitchen windows had been smashed. Then a group of people broke into our home."
张胜利称：“10点钟左右，我已经睡着了。突然间，外面有很大的响声，有人在撞我的门。我打开电灯，看见厨房的窗户已经被打碎。然后一群人强行闯入我的房子。”

He's not alone.
他不是唯一的一个。

None of his neighbors' homes were left standing that night. About 20 men wearing masks broke into the six bungalows, forcedly pulling the residents outside.

They then had to watch as their homes were reduced to rubble.

Teng Chenmao, resident of Songtuo Community, Harbin, said, "My wife was pulled from the bed, she was made to stand outside with bare feet only wearing her night clothes."
松拖社区居民Teng Chenmao表示：“我的妻子被人从床上拉下来，她穿着睡衣光着脚站在外面。”

Zhang Shengli said, "They warned us to move out as soon as possible, saying horrible things would happen if we didn't. "

Local police say the men were working for a company that specializes in clearing houses. But it's not clear who was behind the incident.
当地警方称，这些人受雇于一间拆房公司。但是幕后指使人是谁还不清楚。

The developer of the land, Zhong Qing Property Development Ltd. Co. denies hiring the men.
土地开发商中青房地产开发有限公司否认雇了这些人。

In a statement, the company said: "We are certain we weren't behind this incident. Someone who stands to benefit from the incident is behind it. They just want to make a drama with this case."

The developer is blaming the residents, who now face the fact that the homes they've lived in for decades may not belong to them.

Tang Yuhua, resident of Songtuo Community, Harbin, said, "My parents came here from countryside in 1972 to work in a tractor factory. The bungalow was built by the factory for the workers."

But only one of the six households actually has an ownership certificate. The others only stand to receieve 8 hundred yuan per square meter in compensation, according to project regulations issued in January 2011.

The average property price in the region is about 8 thousand yuan per square meter.

Residents say they tried to apply for the ownership certificates with the help of the tractor factory. But the service has been halted since the land development project was launched.

Meanwhile, 8 suspects alleged to have been involved in destroying the homes have been arrested. Local police say an investigation is continuing.
